The office of Clerk of Court is responsible for
maintaining a record of all civil and criminal cases filed with the
Floyd Superior Court as well as a host of other records, such as armed
forces discharges, deed records, plat records, etc.
While all the
offices connected with the courts perform vital functions, I believe the
Clerk’s Office is the most important office in the system. Simply
stated, until a case is filed in the Clerk’s Office, it isn’t a case.
The Clerk’s
Office employs 17 Deputy Clerks who are responsible for filing and
recording documents, attending court, and maintaining a record of all
proceedings.
In 2007, the
Clerk’s Office filed 10,994 civil and criminal cases.
I have been
associated with the Floyd County government and court system for the
past 32 years. I have worked closely with the staff of all the offices
of the Floyd County Courthouse, including the office of Clerk of Court.
I am knowledgeable in the operation of the Clerk’s Office, its
responsibilities, and the impact the office has on the operation of our
court system.
I would like
to put this knowledge and experience to work for the citizens of Floyd
County while striving to continue to accurately maintain the records of
the Superior Court of Floyd County, to keep the Clerk’s Office efficient
and helpful to the people, and to be fiscally responsible with
taxpayer’s dollars. At the same time, I would also like to bring the
office into a new era of attentive, courteous, and professional customer
service that all citizens deserve from their elected officials.
I feel the
experience and skills I have acquired during my tenure with Floyd County
makes me uniquely qualified for the position of Clerk of Superior Court. |
